I enjoyed reading that, William. It must have been very exciting for Bill Hamilton and his team actually doing all the testing for the jet boat engines he designed to go at high speed in shallow water - getting into the boat each time wondering if his new ideas would be a success or not.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever seen the sport Jet Sprints? Peter Caughey has recently retired after winning several world and NZ titles. He now designs and builds jet sprint boats in Ohoka, not far from Rangiora. Before Covid 19 he was starting to get orders for a new boat design of his called a Quad Seater. It goes super fast and you get up to 3 gs in the turns - I know because I have been on several test drives in a couple of his Quad seaters at the end of last year and earlier this year.
